Immunostimulating Action
Immunostimulating Action
"Immunostimulating" refers to the activation of the body's immune system. By enhancing immune function, organisms can defend themselves against pathogens and other foreign substances, thereby maintaining good health.
Verification of NK Cell Activation
The activation of NK (natural killer) cells was verified using fucoidan derived from mozuku, fucoidan derived from mekabu, Agaricus mycelium extract, and a combination of all three (referred to as the Fucoidan Mix AG), in an experiment using BALB/c mice (hereinafter referred to as "mice").
BALB/c mouse … A standard albino laboratory mouse strain
NK cell …A type of immune cell responsible for destroying tumor cells and virus-infected cells
・Experimental Method
Mouse ascites tumor cells (Sarcoma 180) were subcutaneously injected into five groups of mice. Each group was then fed a different diet: a standard feed (control), feed mixed with mozuku-derived fucoidan, feed mixed with mekabu-derived fucoidan, feed mixed with Agaricus mycelium extract, and feed containing the Fucoidan Mix AG. After 20 days, NK cell activity was measured.

Effects of Mozuku Fucoidan, Mekabu Fucoidan, Agaricus Mycelium Extract, and Fucoidan Mix AG on NK Cells
In all cases—mozuku fucoidan, mekabu fucoidan, Agaricus mycelium extract, and the Fucoidan Mix AG—NK cell activity increased significantly.
Among these, the Fucoidan Mix AG showed the most pronounced enhancement of NK cell activity.
We are conducting research on fucoidan, whose various physiological functions have been elucidated, including 'anti-tumor,' 'cholesterol-lowering,' 'blood pressure-lowering,' and 'anti-virus' effects.
